Walla Walla Valley Academy String Orchestra
The Walla Walla Valley Academy String Orchestra formally began in 1993. The Orchestra performs standard classical literature, commissioned works, and arrangements. It is active in their community, as well as the northwest region.
During director Ben Gish’s twenty-year tenure, the orchestra has performed throughout the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Florida, and in Canada. Students are also active in forming their own ensembles.
Several members have won top awards at various festivals and competitions, and have appeared as members and soloists with the Walla Walla Symphony. They have also been awarded significant scholarships to Summer Festivals, colleges and universities, with the total scholarship awards approaching a half-million dollars.
